There are a select few fruit varieties that are natural dwarfs and these need almost no pruning.įirst among these is the dwarf peach Pixzee. These rootstocks generally grow trees to about half their usual height which still may be too big. But we do have a number of varieties of stone fruit, apples and citrus where trees can be planted on dwarfing rootstocks. Any tree can be kept small by regular pruning and often that is the best method. There are two good reasons to keep fruit trees small: first, to allow easy netting to keep the birds at bay and second, to fit a limited space. Pixzee Peach is the easiest way to get nice peaches on a dwarf tree.
